An elegant and finely crafted antique diamond brooch dating to circa 1890, this exquisite piece embodies the refined artistry and romantic styling of the late Victorian era.
Designed in a graceful, flowing openwork form, the brooch features a delicate, nature-inspired motif reminiscent of stylised foliage or a floral spray, with softly curving lines that create a sense of movement and lightness.
Set throughout with old cut diamonds, the brooch sparkles with a subtle, charming brilliance characteristic of hand-cut stones from the period.
The diamonds are arranged with careful attention to balance and proportion, with the larger stones prominently claw set to maximise their presence and light reflection, while the remaining smaller diamonds are meticulously set in fine milgrain settings, adding a delicate textured edge that enhances their shimmer.
The total diamond weight is approximately 1.00 carat, offering a refined yet noticeable sparkle without overpowering the intricate design. The stones display the gentle fire and individuality typical of antique cuts, contributing to the brooch’s timeless appeal.
Crafted in platinum to the front, the cool-toned metal provides a perfect backdrop for the diamonds, enhancing their brightness and lending a crisp, sophisticated finish to the piece. The reverse is fashioned in 18ct yellow gold, a traditional combination that not only ensures durability but also reflects the craftsmanship techniques of the era. The brooch is fitted with a classic pin fastening to the reverse, allowing it to be worn securely.
A charming drop detail suspends from the lower section, set with an additional old cut diamond, adding movement and a touch of elegance to the overall composition.
This brooch is a beautiful example of late 19th-century jewellery design, combining fine materials, skilled craftsmanship, and enduring style—ideal for collectors or as a distinctive statement accessory.
