Edwardian 15ct Gold Almandine Garnet and Old Cut Diamod Ring, Circa 1905
A striking Edwardian 15ct yellow gold almandine garnet and old-cut diamond ring, dating to circa 1905.
At the centre is a rich, deep red almandine garnet with a cushion-like, softly faceted cut, its dark raspberry-red tones creating a dramatic focal point. The garnet is held within an ornate gold setting, with decorative scroll-like claws and raised goldwork framing the stone.
On either side of the garnet are two old-cut diamonds, delicately set into the shoulders of the ring and adding flashes of bright, lively sparkle against the warm yellow gold.
The combination of the richly coloured garnet, bright old-cut diamonds and sculptural gold setting gives the ring a particularly distinctive appearance.
The broad, gently tapering shoulders sweep upwards towards the central stone, creating a bold yet elegant silhouette, while the decorative gold details around the garnet lend the ring a refined Edwardian character. The 15ct yellow gold has a warm, rich tone which beautifully complements the deep red of the garnet.
Dating from circa 1905, this is an impressive and highly individual antique ring, with a wonderful combination of colour, texture and period craftsmanship. A beautiful choice as an antique dress ring, or a distinctive addition to a fine jewellery collection.
