The snake has a rich history of symbolism. During the Victoria era, it symbolised enduring love, inspired by Queen Victoria's engagement ring from Prince Albert - a snake biting its tail. Snakes in Victorian jewellery were also a status symbol of elegance, wealth, and prestige due to their intricate design, precious metals and stones that were used to craft them.
