Antique Edwardian 18ct Gold Pearl and 0.40ct Diamond Cluster Ring, Circa 1900

£2,350

A charming Edwardian pearl and diamond cluster ring dating to circa 1900, beautifully crafted in 18ct gold. The ring features a lustrous round pearl measuring approximately 4.5mm, centrally set within a delicate scalloped cluster of old-cut diamonds, with a combined estimated diamond weight of approximately 0.40ct. The diamonds are set in 18ct white gold, providing an elegant contrast to the warm 18ct yellow-gold shank. The scalloped cluster is finely finished with a delicate milgrain setting, creating a softly textured, beaded edge which enhances the intricate period character of the design. The decorative shoulders are each set with four old-cut diamonds, also finely milgrain set, leading gracefully from the ornate cluster into the plain yellow-gold shank. The combination of the creamy lustre of the pearl, the charmingly irregular sparkle of the old-cut diamonds, contrasting white and yellow gold, and fine milgrain detailing gives this ring a particularly elegant and feminine appearance, characteristic of fine jewellery from around 1900. A beautiful example of antique jewellery, this ring would make a lovely and distinctive antique engagement ring, with its timeless pearl centre and delicate diamond cluster.
