Antique Victorian Yellow Topaz and Pearl Pendant, Circa 1900

£2,950

A striking late Victorian pendant, circa 1900, exquisitely crafted in 18ct yellow gold, centred by a large oval faceted topaz in a warm, golden champagne hue. The gemstone is held within a richly detailed openwork setting, its faceted surface catching the light with subtle flashes and depth. Surrounding the central topaz is an elaborate scrolling gold gallery, formed of delicate rope-twist and sinuous volute motifs, creating an ornate, almost floral silhouette. Natural seed pearls are positioned throughout the design, their soft, creamy lustre providing a luminous contrast to the rich yellow gold and glowing topaz. The pendant is suspended from an elegant articulated bale, itself set with a graduated row of seed pearls, adding further refinement and sparkle. With its intricate pierced workmanship, sculptural scrolls, contrasting textures and harmonious combination of 18ct yellow gold, topaz and seed pearls, the piece has an exceptionally decorative and distinctive appearance, characteristic of the opulent jewellery of the period.
