Description

This elegant antique pearl and diamond crossover ring, crafted in rich 18ct yellow and white gold, dates to circa 1930 and reflects the refined sophistication of early 20th-century jewellery design.

At its centre, the ring features a romantic "toi et moi" (you and me) motif—a symbolic pairing of a lustrous white cultured pearl and a beautifully proportioned old cut diamond, set opposite each other in a graceful crossover style.

The pearl is smooth and round, with a soft, creamy lustre, while the diamond is securely held in a classic claw setting that allows maximum light to pass through the stone.

The central diamond is an old cut, a hand-cut style popular before the invention of modern cutting techniques. Characterised by a high crown, small table, and open culet, old cut diamonds are treasured for their warm, romantic sparkle and slightly irregular faceting, offering a distinctive antique charm that modern cuts cannot replicate.

Flowing into the shoulders, the crossover design continues with four old cut diamonds set on each side, all delicately grain-set in 18ct white gold.

This white gold setting enhances the brightness and brilliance of the diamonds, creating a beautiful contrast with the warmth of the yellow gold shank. The ring’s elegant curvature, soft colour palette, and vintage details come together to create a piece that is both timeless and meaningful.

Graceful, symbolic, and full of vintage charm, this circa 1930 ring is a refined example of antique craftsmanship—ideal as a romantic gesture, an engagement ring with character, or a cherished addition to any fine jewellery collection.
